Cost coverage

• The health insurance company covers the costs of postnatal care during the first 56 days after birth.

• For first-time mothers, premature births, twins or caesarean births: up to 16 visits.

• For multiparous women: up to 10 visits.

On-call compensation

• For postpartum care, the midwife ensures her availability from the time of hospital discharge until the end of the postpartum period. This includes being reachable and arranging a suitable substitute in case of inability or absence.

• The Swiss Midwives Association has set a standby fee of CHF 150 for this, which is billed directly by the attending midwife.
